Explore Flavors of Old and New at El Presidio

El Presidio is a special place with character, charm and big flavor. It is not to be missed.

From the moment we stepped foot into El Presidio we knew it was something special. The rustic interior, exposed brick and overgrown foliage take center stage. It’s as if the restaurant is paying homage to Old Town Mazatlan as it were.

Edison string lights and vintage chandeliers adorn the indoor-outdoor space. And every which way you turn is a picturesque scene of old-meets-new, perfectly eluding to the dining experience at El Presidio.

The gorgeous bar inside the restaurant offers over 50 tequilas, mezcals, and other rarities like three types of Absinth. Enjoy wine and cocktails while admiring the ambiance of the restaurant. But don’t only look to the decor for the finer times of old…

El Presidio’s food, which can be described as “culinary excellence“, is an ode to the best flavors of yesterday’s Mazatlán, from street eats to cenadurias to farmer’s markets. Each dish is a thoughtful creation to savor, and to reminisce long after.

This Quiet Island is Just Across The Water from Mazatlan

We selected the Grilled Asparagus and Stuffed Chili Pepper Tacos to start (get.the.taco.), and for mains we enjoyed the Beef Filet and Drowned Fish. Couples dining to our left and right ordered completely different dishes. And yet, their expressions amid dining let us know we were not alone in our delight.

Pro Tip: Book a reservation in advance on their website.

Even more so, I try to learn about and raise awareness to local grassroots efforts in the areas I am visiting. I believe that communities hold the answers to their trials and I seek to support those efforts however I can.My goal is to never stop learning, always checking my privilege and try to make the world a better place.
