If you’re looking for a filtered water bottle to carry around while you travel or adventure outdoors, the LifeStraw Go filtered water bottle is exactly what you need. Trust me, I love mine and you’re about to find out why.
My search for a filtered water bottle really began when I got tired of spending so much money on plastic water bottles when I travel. In addition to saving a few bucks, I wanted to expand my effort in creating less plastic waste for the environment. With climate change and a waste filled ocean being popular headlines throughout the last decade, it’s time to really hold ourselves accountable and make changes where we can to improve the future of this planet for those who come after us.
The LifeStraw Go filtered water bottle is a great option for a number of reasons. The cost seems a little high up front but once you understand what you’re getting and how you’re helping out the planet, getting your hands on any filtered water bottle is an absolute no-brainer.

Is the LifeStraw Go filtered water bottle durable, lightweight and easy to carry?
In short, yes. The LifeStraw Go is durable, lightweight and easy to carry. I travel with it frequently and it takes up barely any space in my day pack. I barely even notice it. Every though the water bottle is extremely durable, should something break, LifeStraw makes it easy to replace parts individually, rather than force you to buy a brand new water bottle. You can replace the filters (of course), the bottle itself if it cracks and becomes unusable, and even the mouth piece (which you should replace from time to time regardless).
Is the LifeStraw Go filtered water bottle completely safe to use wherever you go?
The LifeStraw Go water bottle and filtration system has been tested all over the world. It’s 2-stage water filtration system protects you from 99.999999% of bacteria, 99.999% of parasites, 99.999% of micro-plastics, chlorine, bad odor and taste, and even organic chemical matter. It’s safe to use at streams, rivers and even tap water wherever you may be. Click here to review the LifeStraw safety guide for more in-depth information.
How often do I need to replace the filter?
The hollow fiber filter has a lifetime of 1,000 gallons (4,000 liters). If you break down those numbers in comparison to your average plastic water-bottle (16 ounces give or take), you’d get roughly 8,000 water bottles uses out of each filter. Of course, that’s not completely accurate depending on where you travel to and where you’re getting your water from, since the pores will clog over time as the filter is used; reaching end of life when water can no longer pass through the filter.
The carbon filter lifetime is 25 gallons (100 liters). If used frequently, it’s recommended that you change that filter every 3 months.
Breaking down the cost of the LifeStraw Go
The LifeStraw Go can be purchased directly from LifeStraw at the cost of $44.95 (free shipping on orders above $35 – US only). I’ve been able to find it elsewhere for a few bucks cheaper with quicker shipping. That might be something to consider if you’re going on a trip soon and need it delivered in a more timely manner.
The LifeStraw Go helped me accomplish two things. It puts money back in my pocket when I travel to spend on tours, food and frankly, other things I’d rather be spending my money on. It also helps me cut back on plastic waste when I travel, which I don’t think people understand fully how big of an epidemic it really is. If you’re looking for a product that’s going to help you accomplish those things too, the LifeStraw Go filtered water bottle is a safe bet and should be worth a look at.
