Sazon Kitchen Brings Bold Flavors of Baja California to Ballard

Best New Restaurants in Seattle - Summer 19'

Sazon Kitchen is about as authentic Baja California as it gets, without having to leave Seattle.

You might recognize Sazon Taco’s pop-up food truck from many festivals and events in Seattle, like Bumbershoot. Now, Sazon has opened up their brick and mortar location in North Ballard (just across from the bombshell sandwich spot Un Bien), serving up an amazing brunch from 7am-3pm most days of the week (currently closed on Wednesdays).

Come to Sazon to enjoy bold flavors of Baja for brunch with their extensive menu, from Machaca de Res to a variety of breakfast sandwiches to Divorciados eggs. They also have Mediterranean-inspired dishes, and their coffee is absolutely delicious.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but it’s fairly small and growing in popularity quickly… so don’t be surprised if there’s a long line at the ordering counter!

Sazon Kitchen Ballard - Outdoor Seating

Our first visit we had the opportunity to chat with Alex, one of the employees there, and he told us his very condensed version of how he joined the Sazon family.

Originally from Ensenada, Baja California, he made his way to the states and eventually relocated to Seattle, where he met a few others from his home city. Connecting with those similarities, and missing the flavors of home, he joined the family-owned Sazon Kitchen to share their love for Baja with Seattle.

Sazon Kitchen Ballard - Lunch and Dinner Coming Soon

The taco truck is now permanently parked just outside the restaurant, and will serve up lunch and dinner from about 10am-10pm (opening up soon).

You can find Sazon Kitchen on Facebook for updates and announcements about the food truck opening.

Hi, I'm Darby. My interests are in travel, cooking plant-based meals, music of many genres, human equality and environmental sustainability. I also love to write. When I'm not traveling, you can probably find me drinking coffee or riding a bike around town. I love going to new places and learning as much as possible about history and culture. Even more so, I try to learn about and raise awareness to local grassroots efforts in the areas I am visiting. I believe that communities hold the answers to their trials and I seek to support those efforts however I can. My goal is to never stop learning, always checking my privilege and try to make the world a better place.
